Good idea. I think I still have my cassettes...somewhere. I used to listen to them in my little Corolla - an excellent listening studio. However, unfortunately I never thought to buy jazz albums on cassette. So instead of Coltrane, it'll be Led Zeppelin et al. But you're welcome to them. All guaranteed AAA. Interesting comments Merry. I too find the car an ideal place for listening to music - CDs of course - the turntable didn't work so well, and after all I am not a purist that demands everything be AAA. My Toyota Prius came equipped with a superb sound system, with many front and rear speakers, for a surround-sound type of environment. But seriously...

There was a time when vinyl was prominently advertised as FULL DIGITAL RECORDING, both on the front and back covers (Modern Jazz Quartet, "Three Windows" from 1987, on Atlantic/WEA). Digital (including "digital" vinyl) was all the rage among audiophiles, except those who immediately "knew" a CD would rot very quickly. Now my oldest "evil silver discs" are 38 years of age, and neither they nor their numerous younger companions are showing any sign of decay. It depends on how you store them, of course.
I am perfectly aware the comparison will never work even in theory, given my oldest "vinyl" (shellac, to be precise) is about 95 years old and still going strong. About that MJQ record - didn't I claim the other day my vinyl was all AAA? It is. I sold that record years ago, buying the CD instead.

i've said it many times and i'll say it again: 1) Mofi did not lie about anything. they heavily implied something that wasn't true, but that is an ocean of difference in the eyes of civil law. i'm not defending them, as i've believed they were faux-quality nonsense since the beginning, but I am pretty sure they won't lose this suit. i don't even think they should, because... 2) If all these so-called genius audiophiles could really tell the difference like they claim, it wouldn't matter if there was a digital step, as their superior ears would reveal the truth. it is snake oil, and they drank it by the gallon, and are mad about being exposed as fools.
I don't like to yuck anyone's yum, typically, but these people don't like or enjoy music. They like and enjoy their fancy system toys. And if you think I'm kidding, try playing a FLAC file for one of them, and let them know it's digital, and watch them complain instead of even trying to enjoy the perfectly fine music.

MoFi did lie. When this gets played in court, if it gets that far, then MoFi are screwed. @1:40 I know what you mean about some of those audiophiles. Some of them on YouTube make me cringe. Some, I'm pretty sure, are just buying the limited releases because they're limited and they get to make a video about them. I mean, I just can't imagine someone that loves jazz, sitting there with a nice glass of wine, listening to [expletive] Michael Jackson on a $50,000+ system! Another thing that really bugs the crap out of me, and I don't own a single MoFi album, is that crap banner they put at the top of the covers. They literally alter the covers. Altered covers and digital analogue. Digital analogue! That's what they should shove on the covers!

[ ... ] MoFi did lie. When this gets played in court, if it gets that far, then MoFi are screwed. @1:40 [ ... ] They would be screwed if they had ever claimed their product was AAA. For all we know, they "heavily implied" (Gregory) their lacquers were cut directly from the master tape (see diagram on their homepage), which is technically impossible. Any "audiophile" would be expected to know this ... except those who don't. We'll see what we shall see ...

"[it is] an all-analog mastering chain" is not false. mastering is the cutting of the lacquer. they were choosing their words very carefully.
