Hi, I just forwarded this to Andy:
I've noticed differences between different purple New Jazz labels. Some have narrow deep grooves and some have wider deep grooves. Some have the catalogue number on the label and then A & B and some have the catalogue number and then Side 1 & 2 below the catalogue number instead, and a different typeface. Same titles have these differences. I believe that the labels with wider deep groove are the first pressings and the ones with the narrow deep groove came later. I also think the hissy copies on New Jazz could be connected to copies with the narrow deep groove labels. It seems the narrow deep groove labels also have a different tone of purple, a bit darker.
I have images which I forwarded to Andy, but can't attach them here, there's no space left it says.
