I'm feeling renewed enthusiasm for this thread - no doubt triggered by the fact that I'm going to see Charles Tolliver play live at the Camden Jazz Cafe tonight. I'm also due to start work on a review of the Pure Pleasure re-issue of Tolliver's Paper Man which is going to be given a Strata East catalogue number. So more later when I'll have some suggestions about how we can actually begin to compile this spreadsheet for real!

Yeah I've totally gotten off track with this one. Also I only got info from one individual. It seems fairly straight forward, but don't they all at the beginning (except for Chess and it's subsidiaries which I'm sure I'll never crack).

OK, I've had some time to think about how we can best collaborate to compile a set of data about Strata East first pressings. I'd like to propose that we set up a Google Sheet (basically Google's "in the cloud" equivalent to Microsoft Excel spreadsheet). The advantages of this are that it's free and that we can set up one spreadsheet that we can all edit and contribute to. I've started creating a first version of it ready to share and I'd like to ask a few questions to enable things to progress:
1). If you're interested in participating, please message me with your email address then I can share the Google Sheet with you and give you permissions to view, comment and edit.
2). I would like to set up some of the columns with drop-down lists so you just have to choose the appropriate option (that'll save a load of boring typing and reduce the potential for data entry errors). To do that I'd like some input for a couple of the columns as follows:
a). Address/ZIPcode on labels: so far I've identified three recurring possibilities: (i). N.Y.C. 10010 (ii). N.Y.C. 10014 and (iii). 221 West 57th Street, New York, N.Y. 10019 - are there any more that I should add to the list?
b). Cover address: similar question really - I know there are some addresses that recur frequently on covers (e.g. 156 Fifth Avenue, N.Y., N.Y. 10010) but I'd like to get your input to compile a list of the possible variants.
OK, that's it. Let the contributions commence!

Pretty interesting to me that Strata-East later occupied the same building (156 5th Ave) that ESP-Disk' had offices in during the late 60s (1966-69 I think).

We're making steady progress populating a spreadsheet with Strata-East data and some patterns are just starting to emerge. One thing that has cropped up several times now is the presence in the deadwax of a very tiny etching that looks like "s/w". My guess is that this is the mark of a mastering engineering or a pressing plant but I've not been able to identify it. Does anybody have any clues?
