not yet: being Dippin' not so rare, I hoped our readers could help. I've found several discrepancies with Fred's data and I'm collecting. I will let him know. in the meanwhile I think someone else has realized that Cohen is no more rigid with deep groove after 4058. he has offered (and sold) as ORIGINAL, some records that had NO dg while they are listed original WITH dg in his book. it looks like Allan Songer's theory is considered as Larry Cohn's now.

In August a copy of Dippin' described as a sealed original sold online for $480. It says the cover is laminated.
I don't have a copy. I've seen mixed reviews of the music. Do you like it?

I have a copy of BLP 1527 “The Magnificent Thad Jones”. It has all the characteristics of an original first press – deep groove, Lexington labels, ear. Also Lexington and framed cover (top and spine). BUT, the RVG is etched on side 1 and stamped on side 2. The side 2 dead wax also has a -1 suffix after the BN-LP-1527 B. Also, the flat edge is not really flat. According to my fingertips, the rim is slightly beaded, but very slightly. One theory is that Rudy van Gelder recut side 2 for some reasons about 1958. Any thoughts?

That's as good a guess as any, Mats. But I am not sure the stamped RVG was in use as early as 1958. I could be wrong. Dott probably knows.

About "Was" -- I think that someone entrusted with this vast treasure - the Blue Note catalog - should be more attuned to and focused on the jazz legacy and its history and not all over the place musically and professionally.
