Folks, let's please refrain from using all caps. Regardless of your intention, it makes it seem like you're yelling and pounding on a table to make your point. No need for it.
Also, humor and especially sarcasm can often be misconstrued on the internet (Google "netiquette"), which is why I usually steer clear of it in a public forum where any number of people might misintepret it. I liken posting in a public forum to being at a party where you might know some of the people well but many you don't.
By the way: Since this thread seems to be exclusively about Music Matters reissues, maybe we can change the name to "The Music Matters Lounge"? I'm being serious, I think I can do that. Spencer, as the OP, if you were addressing other pressings of classic BN albums I think "Blue Note Lounge" would make more sense as a title.

Spencer, as the OP, if you were addressing other pressings of classic BN albums I think "Blue Note Lounge" would make more sense as a title. I celebrate Blue Note, Rich. That is why I called it The Blue Note lounge. Steve Hoffman has a dedicated Music Matters chat room. Why in the hell would I want to compete with that? I just want talk about what I'm passionate about. As for pounding the table, if you knew the Blues that came over me after waking up to the reality that Donald Drumpf is 7 months away from possibly becoming president of the U.S.A. Pounding the table? You should think "hiding under the table". I like the Blue Note lounge, Rich...sincerely p.s. this post made no mention of Music Matters, or am I mistaken? What I really like, Rich is for some readers of this blog to stop trampling on my right to have an opinion (not you, of course)

Oh my.
I agree with Spencer in the spirit of MUSIC discussion instead of ORIGINALS discussion, so I don't mind the name of the thread. It is of little consequence to our ability to discuss what we want anyway.
However, Spencer, if your right to have an opinion were being trampled, you would not be able to complain about it, would you?
We simply disagree, and all went our separate ways to enjoy our various recordings of lovely BN albums.
I LOVE YOU (sorry, Rich).

By 'other pressings' I didn't mean *only* vintage pressings, I just meant that the title of the thread would make more sense it people were talking about all kinds of pressings, not just MM.

We share the same dreams my friend! I too, am hoping to either win the lottery or stumble unto a copy at some country mom and pop store.

Thanks for the link, Spencer. Great pictures. I'm wondering, though, where do you see the upcoming titles for next year listed? Have you heard any confirmation elsewhere?

Thanks for the link, Spencer. Great pictures. I'm wondering, though, where do you see the upcoming titles for next year listed? Have you heard any confirmation elsewhere? One of the pictures has a stash of tapes in a box (stacked upright). If you look at the titles on the tape you will notice Duke Pearson's Wahoo and others in there. Wahoo is a title that is currently not on the MM reissue catalog. The fact that it is sitting in Kevin Gray's work station when those photos were taken is an indication that they are remastering this title for release. Donald Byrd's Byrd in Flight is another unreissued one, and so is Sonny Clark Trio and Lee Morgan Lee Way. Long time ago when I used frequent Hoffman's watering hole. I noticed there were some people over there commenting about how many times they've written to MM to reissue Wahoo. Looks like their persistence has paid off.

IIRC the $12,000 copy was a hoax or the sale was cancelled or something...somebody explained that on JC.com. I've heard that album and I'm a pretty big Mobley fan but I have no interest in that album. I don't even own a digital copy let alone a reissue.

yeah, i know the 12k sale ended up being some sort of nonsense. was just going to post that!
but you don't like the album? i downloaded a rip a few years back to hear what all the hubbub was about, and the very beginning grabs my attention right away!

In my opinion, 1568 as a whole does not stand up to Hank - 1560, or Peckin' Time - 1574, but the track "Double Exposure" from 1568 is among the greatest tracks Mobley ever composed or laid down.
