This is a bit off-topic, but for anyone who enjoys stuff about record collecting in all its manifestations, you may like Nate Goyer's website, The Vinyl Guide. It's primarily a podcast website about just about all aspects of vinyl collecting. Be warned -- it barely touches jazz. However, the podcasts are very well done and genuinely instructive. I have just been listening to the two-part interview with collector/conservator-extraordinaire, John Tefteller, who has one of the largest -- and perhaps *the* largest -- collections of pre-war blues 78s in the world. Part One; Part Two. Tefteller's story of how he unearthed two immense collections of texts, promotional materials, photographs, adverts and dealer brochures from the Paramount company, while not about records, is utterly fascinating. It included one of the only known images -- other than a head shot -- of blues giant, Charlie Patton. It was on the front of the only known copy of Paramount's 1929 dealer calendar -- and it was this which inspired Teftellet to curate an annual calendar of pre-war blues, with period adverts and digital transfers from some of the rarest restored/refurbished 78s. Now, the weird thing is, I'm not even a blues enthusiast. I would even go as far as to say that listening to blues (even blues-based jazz!) bores me. But for some reason I found this particular two-part interviews with Tefteller compelling. Like I said, it isn't jazz but I've no doubt it will wile away an hour or two for some here SaveS

Good tip. Are there any podcasts about jazz record collecting?
I've purchased rare blues 78s from Tefteller, back when I collected all kinds of vinyl, not exclusively vintage jazz, you pay a large premium to buy from him, much like Bob Djukic, from whom I've paid more than standard market value, given his reliable descriptions and the high number of potential buyers who follow his listings.

Interestingly, someone on Reddit asked precisely that question recently. It seems there isn't much but a few things are mentioned in the thread. By and large, however, they aren't about collecting -- more about jazz history. There are also the BBC jazz podcasts -- or used to be: Building a Jazz Library and the other BBC shows. All findable on iTunes, I imagine -- I haven't looked in years. The Vinyl Guide has one jazz podcast that I remember seeing. SaveSave
