perhaps they just wanted to be sure the new address was present at least once, like when they switched to INC and R? Just a thought. i honestly have no idea. 1500 blue notes are not in my collector's radar yet. i have a few, including some nice horace silver, but none of the majors. too expensive!

Yeah most of these are out of my range as well. Good thing people haven't caught on to all of the great stuff on Impulse (or at least they don't fetishize them as much).

From the FW comments I gathered that Giorgio has tons of experience looking for these anomalies and I took note that he has only heard of one claim ever of NY23 both sides for City Lights but there was never any photographic evidence. I guess the 'at least one label with the new address' thing is plausible, but that type of theory makes more sense to me in the case of the "INC" and registered trademark "R" on the later W63rd labels. But when I think about all the various ways they could have stacked the labels when printing them and slapping them on the records, I agree, it's so strange that there's never instances where the same label is on both sides for titles like City Lights and Blue Train. There must have been a stack of side 1 labels right next to a stack of side 2 labels, and someone grabbed one of each with the vinyl biscuit sandwiched in between for the press, right? Is that how it worked? It would also make more sense if there were *only* side 1 NY23 labels or *only* side 2 NY23 labels...bizarre. But I personally don't think any less of copies with W63 no R on both sides.

47 West 63rd NY 23: 1544 to 1559; 1561 to 1563, 1565, 1576
47 West 63rd NYC: 1560, 1564, 1566, 1567, 1569-1574 1568: NY 23 side 2 only 1575: NY 23 either side 1 OR side two. I've always seen this number with NY23 on side one, never on side two (Fred Cohen states it exists). some years ago I asked an Ebay seller to confirm the NY23 address for this offered record: he replied: both sides but never showed the pictures... 1577: NY 23 either side 1 OR side 2: I've pictures of different copies with NY 23 on side one OR two. mine on side one. for these two numbers, both labels have been surely printed but never used on the same record. Don't know why but, if a double NY23 1577 would show up, I'll try the impossible to add to my collection.
