I'm not sure but I'll try and remember to have a look tonight. I think they date to the mid/late-90s, don't they?

I've never heard them, but sound-wise i find cuscana to be a trustworthy guy. no knowledge of the pressing quality though.

The S/T one is playing as I type and I must say it's been years since I last played this. I love Coltrane but play him very little, and oddly, when I do, I'm more likely to reach for BALLADS than any of the more acclaimed LPs. INdeed, I have always thought that the S/T set a much better record than A Love Supreme, the 'religiosity' of which I have always found rather tiresome. I don't even like the term 'spiritual jazz' - not that JC chose it or used it (as I think Dott has told me off about before, and rightly). I never really know what it is supposed to mean. Anyway, these are some of the reasons why I have always loved this record and in this limited edition pressing it sounds just fine. Everything is where it should be and the instruments are faithfully rendered. Texture and detail is good. Having said that, I have never thought that JC was all that well recorded. Some of the sessions are virtual car crashes and sound pretty awful to my ears (Sunship - wasn't Alice responsible for that? - for instance).
If these Cuscuna limited editions were the only LP versions around, I for one certainly wouldn't have a problem with that. My only complaint is that the drums are a bit too loud. But then I think that Elvin Jones always drums too bloody loudly, which is probably why I prefer JC's ballad playing. But on this particular record the track I love - it was probably the Coltrane that first got me hooked because I think I heard it way before I did SUPREME- is Tunji.
Anyway, if these mid to late 90s pressings are still around and priced sensibly then I'd say you can and should buy with confidence.

Thanks man I appreciate everything....nothing worse than finding (what looks to be a nice press) and then get it home and after a cleaning its still full of noise, etc...
I got a chance to grab 2 that are NM
Coltrane 12 bucks
Ballads 13 bucks...
so I'm going to pull the trigger
thanks again...
