thanks, gst! i have the opposite problem. my followers are mostly fellow jazz lovers, and a few friends and family who don't give a shit about my dumb hobby. haha.

I must say Instagram is interesting. It's fun browsing through pictures, but now there is a whole new game of trying to be the first to respond to a record a dealer posted before it's gone. I just saw a copy of Velvet Underground and Nico sell within minutes after Mono Records posted it. Now I won't have to wait for an auction to end to be disappointed I didn't get something! However I was able to pick up Pharoah Sanders' "Karma." Although you've got to be careful and trust the seller about their grading. I do have one question though. When you reply to someone's comment with the '@' symbol does that start a private chat? I think I did that with you GTF. I thought it would end up in the comment section under the post. Apparently i have much to learn.

No, not a private chat -- that happens in the direct messaging side of things, which should be at the top right "arrow" of your home screen.
I have bought a record from an Instagram flipper once. It was kind of a weird experience.

Thanks Clifford. BTW Nice find on the ESP Disk catalogue. Anything of interest on the inside?

The best part is the original title and mock cover for Marion Brown on ESP 1040, titled in this instance "The Psychedelic Sounds of Marion Brown" (of course it came out as "Why Not?"). There's also a cool handprint design over two pages with a description of ESP's motto. I used to have a beater copy of the ESP sampler but it was nice to get a crisp sealed one for the low low price of $0.

sometimes the little reply arrow highlights green and that will make it a private message. just untap it to undo that.

GTF nice right up on Paul Chambers - "Go." I've known of this album for sometime, but I've never actually listened to it (I'll rectify that today). Just thought I'd share your post as not everyone used Instagram (might be worth doing this every now and again?). http://instagr.am/p/BU8XVUqBa15

wow, i'm flattered, gst! i found a grammar error, though i'm not sure how to resolve it. bummer. but yes, i am very pleased with this. incidentally, it has a pretty wild warp, but the warp is completely inaudible. no distortion, no 'whoosh', no nothing. and it's otherwise NM.

I listened to this the other day on Amazon Prime and it was good. It's really an incredible line up. I prefer his Blue Note sessions, slightly, but as you pointed out you get a lot more bang for your buck with "Go."

Greg, as much as you despise Kind of Blue, the lineup on that PC record is undeniably "Kind of Blue-ish", same year too. I agree, that cover is sweet...I especially like the naked, wintry trees (see Horace Silver, "Finger Poppin" and Donald Byrd, "Off to the Races")...reminds of late fall in upstate New York for some reason, something I miss about living up there. Anyway, 1959, that's a pretty early Freddie Hubbard date. ("Open Sesame" was recorded in '60, right?) I'd be interested to hear what he sounded like then.

totally fine to share, gst.
it's not on YouTube but may have been up on the download scene in the past. I had not heard it -- though I knew of the record -- when I purchased it from a dealer friend in Japan, and was very pleased. First side is pretty out, second side is a bit more pastoral but still free.

I wouldn't say I despise kind of blue, just its cult following. and like most things, the anger comes from not understanding it. i just don't hear what others hear on that album. but usually i am firmly on board, as with "a love supreme". haha. yes. the lineup reminds one of KOB, but the lack of reverb turned up to 11, miles' pinched tone, and pseudo-chamber nonsense make it much better.
