I've been working about this subject the last 2 years and I think I've collected almost all data. still in need for a couple of info. - In Person Friday Night at the Blackhawk Vol. 1, Columbia CL 1669- In Person Saturday Night at the Blackhawk Vol. 2, Columbia CL 1670recorded April 1961, released 1961 different editions exist: the one I should call original is six eyes, double deep groove, NO CBS - At Carnegie Hall, Columbia CL 1812recorded May 1961, released 1962 I've got two different issues: 1) two eyes, no dg, guaranteed high fidelity 2) six eyes, no dg, demonstration copy (on labels and cover), CBS at hr 12 our host, LJC, limits six eyes labels to 1961 and 1812 is from 1962, the last six eyes Davis on Columbia I've ever seen. preeceding three Davis are: 1656, 1669 and 1670. all have six eyes labels, all are known with CBS at hr 12 1656 is NOT known without CBS 1669 and 1670 are known without CBS 1812 is NOT known without CBS any thoughts? thx Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

i had always thought that the CBS 6-eye labels were just them using up old stock, and as such weren't very important as far as provenance. i also know that i have seen the 2-eye version referred to as the original before.
as for the blackhawk records, i have both as double-sided DG, 6-eye, NO CBS. so there's another data point.

there are no more doubts re Black Hawk, mono or stereo: six eyes, dg, no CBS. my main doubt is Carnegie Hall. I thought the two eyes, no dg, guaranteed high fidelity was the original too, until I came across what looks the last of Davis' six eyes. I've never seen this before. what I never found anywhere is the story/reason for CBS at hour twelve. re Davis, only Someday My Prince Will Come seems original WITH CBS, never seen a six eyes 1656 WITHOUT it. here's my other ?original?

Well I don't have any answers, but I now apparently have another detail to look at when buying records

Sorry I can't help, Dottore -- all mine are later pressings... But it's good to hear from you. Where have you been?

I'm still around and well and reading everything here BUT: my kid Leo is training 5 times a week now, playing tournaments on weekends, sometimes in different locations the same day so my job is taking him all around, often very far from Milano. some days ago he achieved his best result of the year: third in Italian Youth Championships in Terni, near Rome.
