As London Jazz Collector has gotten more popular, there have been more and more fun, educational conversations in the comments sections of the posts. Unfortunately, the standard, free comment functionality does not lend itself well to multiple replies, longer comments, bumping posts etc. Perhaps we can start bringing our tangential conversations over here, and perhaps LJC can encourage the users to do so somewhere on the site. But out of all the places on the web to talk jazz record collecting, LJC is by far my favorite place. The atmosphere has always been fun and friendly and I really appreciate that. It feels like a tight-knit community with positive vibes, and it would be great if we could open up the conversation to extend beyond LJC's posts (as wonderful as they all are ). I also appreciate not feeling like I'm walking on eggshells when I comment on London Jazz Collector and not feeling like I need to be extra cautious about what I say out of fear that others will attack me or belittle me. It's been great seeing the London Jazz Collector fan base grows over the last couple years. I have truly enjoyed conversing with the site's visitors and I would love to continue the conversation here!

I feel the same way. This is the only jazz blog where its members are tolerant, polite, and won't jump on anyone with a different point of view. I almost gave up on the web as a serious venue for learning and discussion, until I found Londenjazzcollector. I'm grateful to LJC and all its members for setting a positive climate for learning.

LJC is the exception that proves the rule -- the internet is by and large a moronic inferno (not original, sadly: I believe Martin Amis pinched the phrase from Saul Bellow). The much-vaunted medium of open discussion and democracy and everything-good-under-the-sun...isn't. But with a good collection of reasonably mannered, well-informed and enthusiastic people whose primary aim is not to be the loudest and the most obnoxious voice in the jungle, it can come close. I have enjoyed seeing the taste and enthusiasms of the LJC site widen and become more diverse -- and long may it continue. I enjoy the banter between hard boppers and dissenting free jazzers; I get somewhat lost in the minutiae of label discussion and deadwax etchings but nonetheless welcome their charming obsessiveness. As others have said, it is one of my destinations of choice for jazz-talk. It restores my (never very strong) faith in humanity; it's -- dare I say it -- a bit of a beacon of light in dark times. Right -- I'm off to one of the other threads to try and find something contentious I can argue about
