Hi i have just joined this site, I have quite a large collection of Jazz Records/magazines that were my Dad's and would like either a valuation or find a place to sell them, I can post some pics if needed, He was in a few bands in the 50's local to the London area and collected quite a few bits himself, It is mostly big band/swing stuff(Duke Ellington etc but also alot of other stuff too. There are :- A lot of Metronome, Jazz Journal and Jazz Monthly From 1950's also loads of of Programs ranging from Ray Charles,Ella Fitzgerald Ellington etc at UK venues, A large lot of 10" and 12" Lps(Mostly UK releases but a US issues too from the early 50's -early 70's)Also a photo/Autograph book with many signed pictures form artists, Don't really want to put the on Ebay and rather they went to a collector Thanks

If you are in the US, e-mail me (trout (at) udel (dot) edu). But if you are in the UK I doubt I could pay for the shipping even if we worked something out. We have several UK members, though, so I'm sure one of them could help you out.
To start, how many LPs, roughly?

That is a good amount, because moving them won't be a horrible hassle. I have had good luck with things like Craigslist here in the states, and a local record shop might give you a few hundred dollars, depending on condition and the actual artists and such.

I don't imagine you'll find a collector willing to buy the records sight unseen with no listing and no idea of age, pressings and condition. You could consider contacting this dealer to see whether he might be interested: www.jazzhouserecords.co.uk. I mention him simply because I know him and he's in the UK. I have no financial interest.
