Well, just tried it.
The amount of Jazz available on Spotify is incredible. Don't get me wrong, not every album is available on there atm. In another thread I mentioned Perspective by Randy Weston and Vishnu Wood. Couldn't find it on there. However, many are! By many I mean a lot!
Long story short, I had every jazz album of mine on my microSD card. 112GB worth. The card failed. I'm not going through that again and so Spotify is now my mobile jazz collection.
Thoughts on Spotify?

I use Spotify as source of info about records I have not in my collection, as well as CD's. I'm happy with vinyl as object, very happy with originals. but whenever a record or musician I'm not familiar with is talked about here, Spotify is usually a nice medium to learn or get deeper.

i still keep actual mp3 files in VBR on a hard drive, which i recently upgraded. the transfer process takes about two days, but it allows me to have highly customizable control of my collection. i worry about losing the external drive, though. my sympathies, jazzhead. that thought makes me twitch. i have about 300GB of music on mine.

Love Spotify and Amazon. Unlike GTF i never got around to digitizing my collection so it's an easy way to take albums on the road or cheaply try out new music. I like making playlist as well, although I've never made anything jazz related as I tend to listen to jazz albums all the way through (or at least one side when playing records).

I've been having a look on Spotify for records that I don't have (yet) dottor. These are my finds: Ran Blake - Jaki Byard - Improvisations Per Henrik Wallin Trio - Where Is Spring No YouTube links for these: Oskar Aichinger - Synapsis Oskar Aichinger - Elements of Poetry Per Henrik Wallin - One Knife is Enough Per Henrik Wallin, Sven-Ake Johansson, Leif Wennerstrom - Proklamation I/Farewell To Sweden Per Henrik Wallin Trio - 9.9.99 Share your Spotify finds please!!!

I should clarify, I have only digitized directly a few records that I couldn't find on places like Soulseek and shared on blogs and whatnot. The internet is truly wonderful.
