gst, i know it!
heavyp, honestly, her wants are all practical and very good ideas. we need some nice pots and pans (both of us cook) and she would like to upgrade the speakers and such, since she occasionally uses the turntable as well, and since the speakers also are used for our watching of TV shows from time to time. but unlike most relationships, she also is a collector - just not of records. she collects vintage mannequins, and let me tell you, her having a collector mindset makes my habits easy for her to understand.
also, her mannequins are fucking horrifying, so i can get away with a lot, record-wise. haha.

Just bought a new Dynavector 20X2H cartridge to replace my older one that wore out. With the trade-in discount, it was about $300 more than a rebuild plus I didn't have to wait 6-8 weeks.

Depends on the turntable. The rega RP1 has an ortofon om 10 that was $50 the last time my VPI has an ortofon 2m black on it and it was $500 but doesn't get used nearly as much as the rega which is my daily use turntable.

just acquired an ortofon mono cart to get the best of early microgrooves with a small vintage mono set-up. when all is set and running, i'll upgrade the cart. what will Mrs Fish list to level the registry challenge? How do you like the mono cart? i now wish I would have bought a turntable that can mount two arms so i could have both mono/stereo.
