One of these days I should grab that Ornette single -- I've heard it, just have an aversion to 7" formats... but the music is great of course!

i am also somewhat averse to 7'' records, but some are very cool, as dott is clearly demonstrating!

here a big one, very seldom seen and I'd add, quite obscure. I don't think many collectors have had the opportunity to grab it. Franco Tonani Night in Fonorama on italian Juke Box 330018. it's a quintet recorded in Milano 1964 31st May. Franco Ambrosetti tp, Franco d'Andrea p, Giovanni Tommaso b, Franco Tonani dr and the reason why I purchased this record, Lee "Gato" Barbieri on tenor. the young Argentinian living in Italy then, was offered few opportunities to record and the records didn't sell much. actually he was completely unknown, years before his Last Tango in Paris or Latino America on Flying Dutchman and Impulse. I thought someone should like to see one. Attachment Deleted

Wow!!! That's an incredibly hard to find album. Tonani is a wonderful drummer who worked with Giorgio Gaslini on some fine, fine albums as well.

for Gato's Free Jazz period lovers, another one, rarer and very obscure, to me too. Alessandro Brugnolini, Intermezzi on italian Library SR 004. very few details available. recorded end 1966, trio tenor, bass and drums. apart from Gato, other musicians are unknown to me, I mean no musician is credited on sleeve. very free... do not have any more info

here we go into the real RARE. let's go back to 1962, Stockholm Oct 25th. a young unknown tenor aged 26, flew over the pond looking for a chance. he recorded 8 tunes, mostly standard, with local bass and drums. a first set was published in a small run, less than 250 copies. two different versions are known to exist. 1) mock copy cover, hand written, white label

the photos were mounted on cardboard sleeve, hand writing in black ink by producer Bengt Nordström. a close up look:

then, soon after, the definitive edition. printed cover and green labels. how many sold? I've seen no more than 3 copies in the last 40 years.

here the other label. if the term RARE should be used in Jazz record collecting, now's is the time. printed in Sweden. were Europeans more advanced than Americans or they were simply mad? as new entry I've found this white label, hand written, but it looks like an addendum not from the producer Attachment Deleted
