My favorite Shorter is the work he did with the Jazz Messengers. I have never been a great fan of much of his later work, even that with Miles or Weather Report. Although he is a very fine craftsman, there is a kind of emotional distance that I sense for some reason, and so have not followed his career closely, as I have done with Coltrane or several other sax players. The video looks like it is a very interesting one though. Thank you.

there is a kind of emotional distance that I sense for some reason same for me here, and Shorter-Trane as an identical example. followed Trane until his last recording, not Shorter's. for some reason? which one? I couldn't tell myself.

If you have even a slight interest in jazz, not just Wayne Shorter, then you have to watch the first episode.
