CHI-CONGO, on french DECCA 258.054 Stereo this is one of the several recordings published while the group played and lived in France Byg Actuel, Galloway, America, Pathé and Decca among labels. Chi-Congo was also issued on Carson 3678 and Paula 4001. I've read different info about the original one and was surprised when a well known e-Bay seller sold a Paula (USA) as original from 1973. Discogs says Carson and Decca published 1972. I've got Decca (1972), never seen Carson. which is the real first? Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

I Love the AEOC, and while I don't have much from them, I do have originals of my two favorites: "Fanfare for the Warriors" and "Bap-Tizum"

maybe you'd like to see some more. Go Home, Galloway GB 600502 no one of all French issues has reached big money even if published by small labels in small quantities. rare doesn't match with high prices, not always at least.

Discogs says Carson and Decca published 1972. I can't help with your enquiry, Dott, but I can say that Discogs' release dates should always be treated with a healthy amount of scepticism. As you probably know they are entered by users and they are barely, if ever, overseen for accuracy.

Art Ensemble of Chicago - The Paris Session (Arista/Freedom, 1975) 2LP. The first US release of the AEC session recorded on 26 June 1969 at Polydor Studio, Paris. The recording was earlier released in Europe as two separate LPs: Tutankhamun and The Spiritual. It seems third and fourth tracks on Side 3 - Tthinitthedalen Part One and Tthinitthedalen Part Two were never released before.

R.I.P. One can only say here: what a wonderful musician, what a great life. Now I'm playing Side One of this LP: Richard Abrams' solo piano composition Young at Heart.

Indeed. Never met Abrams personally but saw him a number of times and the music was always superb. Seemed like a wonderful human being.

Thanks for the reminder about another neglected record (neglected by me, I mean): the only Muhal Abrams I have (as leader):

Muhal Richard Abrams was President and one of the founders of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) about which George Lewis wrote in 2008 this great book:

if I had to choose one single AEOC record among all, I'll pick out this one, no doubt. Attachment Deleted

Bravo, Dottore. I've seen only Nessa edition of this great album.
