My copy of the NY Art Quartet record has a red label, but with the white text, so it isn't really the same kind of thing.

So what else came with the red label? It looks like the Sun Ra's "The Heliocentric Worlds Of Sun Ra, Vol. I" can with a label similar to "Spiritual Unity." ESP 1004, 1006, 1008, 1009, 1011, 1014 came with red labels and white text. Mine are all pretty heavyweight vinyl and pressed by Plastylite.

having been following ESP DISK for decades, one thing comes clear, this label is a real exception to the rule. although Free Jazz records never sold in quantities. this should mean the lack of multiple reprints. for ESP DISK it's untrue. for most of them there are different issues, covers, labels, printing and so on. for ESP fans, following Clifford's path, ESP DISK 1008, Paul Bley Barrage. look at the label: red with white printing, mono or stereo? the cover says mono, the record IS mono

now look at this: at the left side you can read monaural. so at least two different pressings. and what about the circle, tight on my copy, large on the second.

with esp we have to go with the earliest available address and just sort of hope for the best beyond that, i fear. i would imagine they ordered obscenely small pressing runs and so made few records but with many variations.

yeah that promo/pre-release Ornette has always whetted my appetite. Never had it, obviously.

Byron Allen, ESP DISK 1005 there are 4 different first editions, all are 180 Riverside Drive. for a record that sold in very few quantities, as GTF speculated, ESP DISK's policy comes clear. 1) my copy, credits pasted on white back cover, mono, drawing labels. Attachment Deleted
